winamp help needed

hi, i have this problem in winamp. it worked fine for a long time, but now, when i play whatever file i want to play, the the volume of my wave goes like to 0% and ineed to change it back again. how come this happens? and how can i fix it?

hmm, i've not had that problem before! what files are you trying to play? are they mp3's? WMA's? etc. for some strange reason wma files did used to mess my soundcard settings up for some reason though i have no idea why. failing a helpful response on here see if you can find out if it is a specific file type that is causing you the problems and do some research on google.

Maybe it's a stupid suggestion, but do the upand down arrows work to raise and lower the volume in winamp? Are you sure the equalizer isn't open? If it is, the volume controls won't work. You can also increase the preamp level in the equalizer by pressing `
